How nice is it when you awake each day to snow capped mountains, the ocean ebbing and flowing by your door step and a sleepy wee town that has decent coffee.. I feel like I am home, not that Ireland was or is anything like this, but you know what I mean..
It's that sense of being here, contentment and a knowing that you could very easily do this for ever..
Ok, so forever is a long time but that's just me..
Myself and Esther went exploring some of the trails here; Beaver Lodge Forest Lands is riddled with trails for both walkers and bikers, so you do need to be aware. On our rides around we found some log rides and up & over’s that the locals have built.. Sweet little place to buzz through, and you can't really get lost.
Our second adventure and first attempt at finding and exploring Snowden Demonstration Forest on the city border was more hit and miss. We got lost heaps even before we started on the Pump-House Trail area, not having a local guide like our friend Erik in Rotorua can make all the difference we quickly found out.
After some fumbling around the trails we did find we right at the lower end of the Snowden tracks. We started out on Stickman, which should be named Stoneman, not fast and flowing like we’re use to, but that's what riding new trails is all about..
The only person we meet on out there was a Kiwi from Wanaka.. Go figure, can't get away from them......
So Campbell River is quite the place, the Salmon Capital of the world, self proclaimed of course.. Once I figure out that the ocean in front of the house is just that and not the river, then I can stop looking like a real tourist.. The actual Campbell River is much small, the size you can throw a stone from one side to the other..
