Canada's West Coast

Me and Jim at the wharf
Bring yourself, a mountain bike and go get lost on some of the best trails ever.. Don't get me wrong, Rotorua in New Zealand is one sweet spot for biking, a top class network of trails. But here in BC it's a whole new ball game. I look forward to exploring more of what is on offer..
Only in Vancouver a few days we need to keep moving and go see some people on our road trip.. Vancouver Island is the next stop off point. So we catch a bus from the city's west-end, pop our bike on the bike rack at the front and head to Horseshoe Bay. All the buses have bike racks, so getting around is not to bad, especially if it's just that bit too far to cycle.. A short trip across the water and we arrive to more blue skies and sunshine, and of course our buddy Jim in his pick-up truck
It would be about 9 years since we seen our ole friend Jim, who we have be threatening to visit for as many years. We first met in Adelaide Australia, where he was hanging out at Back-pack Oz with his buddy Darren, their winter vacation. Jim came and lived with us in Dublin a couple of years later before heading back home. Born and bred in Campbell River he is as Canadian as maple syrup.
He picked us up from the ferry port in Naniamo and took us the old coast highway back to his place.. Nothing short of spectacular, this entire region is mountain and sea. I can understand why Jim is the keen fisherman, hunter and all round outdoors-man.
It's great to see him again as he hasn't changed, still easy going and not too troubled by much..
